Handheld Technology For Science Education – Graphical Datalogger Probeware and Sensors

Data collection using modern data logging systems is revolutionizing the face of school science labs around the world. Information that was previously tedious to collect, subject to much guess work and often difficult for many students to visualize or draw any actual learning value from, can now be displayed in a clear, graphical and easy to understand fashion with graphical data logger technology, also referred to as probeware with sensors, designed specifically for science education.

Using probeware technology and interfacing directly with the computer, these data logging devices collect information from a wide array of sensor types and assimilate it into easy to interpret, graphical representations. This information can be monitored while it is being collected or stored for future use. This makes the compilation of reports and presentations much easier.

The real-time nature of the displayed data is also a great plus for these devices as information can be monitored as they are picked up by the sensors. This allows for a far more immediate view of the results of any experiment and a more accurate understanding of the implications and causes of the data that is being collected.

Associate Degree And More Through New College Programs

Colleges and universities throughout the country this year began providing students new educational opportunities through additional programs at the associate degree, bachelor's degree and master's degree levels. Through a new articulation agreement between two institutions as well, students who earn an associate degree at a technical school can save money when moving on to a bachelor's degree at another institution. The new degree programs include:

ITT Technical Institute has added associate degree programs in mobile communications technology, software development technology. A new ITT Tech bachelor's degree in project management is designed to provide students with skills to help them initiate and plan projects, make sure projects meet time and budget requirements and everything in between. The bachelor's in project management is available online as well as on campus. Also new to ITT Tech's online degree programs are associate degrees in information systems administration, computer forensics, construction technology, web design, paralegal studies and nursing.

Kaplan University has added several new online degree and certificate programs. They include master's degrees in public administration, education in instructional technology, homeland security, criminal justice, legal studies, environmental policy and emergency management.

Balancing Parenthood And Your College Education

If you are a parent returning to college after a hiatus, you are likely overwhelmed by your responsibilities. Since you were last in school, you started a family and now have one or more children! Whether you are completing the degree that you started or working on a second degree, your college experience will be a bit different this time around. Fortunately, there are ways to prepare for your new life as both a parent and a student.

If your child is older, you should take the time to discuss your college education with him or her. Your child will likely be affected by your new busy schedule, especially if you are trying to balance work and childcare with a part-time or even full-time job! It is important that your child understands that this is a temporary situation, but is also an exciting and important time for you. Remember that you will be setting a good example for your child about the value of an education.

As a new student, it will be important to manage your time so that you can complete all homework assignments and exam preparation. If you have a spouse, he or she may be able to help you by taking over household chores and childcare responsibilities while you complete your work.
